Lodge, Self-catering (family units from R 700)

Timbali Lodge was founded by the late Pat Forsyth Thompson and his wife, Joy, in 1968. Having spent many years as a prisoner of war in World War II, Pat's indomitable spirit held fast to the mindset of always finding the good in a difficult situation.

After the war, Pat dedicated his life to serving the Swazi nation which he deeply loved and respected. In addition to undertaking a number of assignments for the late, great King Sobhusa II, he was also instrumental in the creation of Malolotja Nature Reserve and the establishment of the Swaziland National Trust. The creation of the Boma restaurant is dedicated to this remarkable man and the inspiration he brought to those fortunate enough to cross his path.

Our beautifully appointed, spacious accommodation is en-suite and fully serviced, with DStv, minibars, ceiling fans, room service, air conditioning, tea and coffee-making facilities, Internet access, and direct-dial phones. The Executive Suites are equipped with spa baths for that little bit of extra pampering. Additional services offered include room service, babysitting upon prior arrangement, laundry, dry cleaning, and a valet service. Our exceptionally friendly staff would be delighted to assist you with planning your excursions and activities.

Come to Timbali and relax; our pool offers shaded seating areas and a full bar service for those days you just feel like lounging. Both of our comfortable ladies lounges and our well-stocked executive bar are at your disposal for either private conversations or more social gatherings. Our head chef at the Boma Restaurant, Craig Jordaan, and his team cordially invite you to join them for a memorable meal. An outstanding selection of fine wines and world-class cuisine are waiting for you.

Excellent multifunctional facilities are available and fully equipped with overhead projectors, flip charts and data projectors. Our large conference room caters for up to 40 delegates while the more intimate board room accommodates up to 20 delegates.

When it's time to take a break, we would be delighted to organize your entertainment. Golfing, game tours, trout fishing, white water rafting, caving and other team-building adventures are available.

We are centrally located in the Ezulwini Valley, between the commercial centres of Mbabane and Manzini 1 km north of The Royal Swazi Sun golf course and casino, craft markets and just a short drive from Mlilwane Game Reserve.

Great! by

The Timbali Lodge was everything we needed for our stay in Swaziland. The employnees were polite and helpful. The food was good, and we slept well. Thank you for making our visit very pleasant.

Disappointed by

We where very disappointed. The "luxury" family rooms where old, certain things where broken, bedding was teared and we where hunted by mosquitos. The kitchen was not fully equipped, many items failed. I was making a reclamation at the reception, they brought me to another unit, but this was still not worth the money. If possible I would claim the money back.

Not entirely happy this time by

Hi Team. We had a good stay in 2016 but our unit this time had no remote control for the tv set, and the telephone was not working and we just couldn't call the main reception. Can you also try and check that all basic utensils and other requirements are available. We did not have a wine bottle opener and only had to purchase one on Saturday

This is a good place by

From past reviews I was actually scared of what the place will be but it turned out to be a really comfortable stay for all 14 of us. Value for money, friendly staff, hot water, clean and air conditioned rooms and a delicious breakfast daily.

50/50 by

Spa bath was not working, and the timbali need really renovation outside and most all walls,
