R 312

Thornycroft is situated on the banks of the Nahoon River on a country estate and offers good value, budget conscious accommodation for a relaxing stay. Designed for outdoor living , all our guest suites and rooms open onto a lush inner garden courtyard with abundant bird life, creating a tranquil setting. The thatched poolside bar and restaurant has a big screen, pool table, table tennis and darts.

Our spa offers massages, manicures, pedicures and facials. Steam in the sauna or soak in the Jacuzzi, followed by a splash in the pool (bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance). Enjoy nature walks and fishing on the property or enjoy an adrenalin rush at paintball and go-kart racing nearby.

Our 120-seater function hall is an ideal venue for your wedding or conference. Thornycroft Camp is just behind the lodge and caters for budget conscious large groups, accommodating a maximum of 80 people in 20-bed dorms.

We are 5 kms from the N2 Amalinda exit, 2 kms of which is well maintained gravel road with concrete slabs for most of the way. Quick and easy access to the highway for most of East London's main attractions and about 30 minutes from the airport. The nearest beach is about 20 minutes away.

THORNYCROFT LODGE REVIEWS (80%)
Unhappy by

the pictures you showing on the website are the opposite of how the lodge looks like! I just wish you did mention that there's about 3km scary/dogie gravel road to rich the lodge, my son was freaking out on our way there especially at night. The shower is a joke water switch to cold while showering the gas just boom goes off! Not to mention dirty water from the taps/shower! my body got red itchy marks since that day. I am really not a wild person I wish you could reveal everything about the lodge on your website because I wouldn't have booked, I could not sleepy I was scared.

Establishments response:

Dear Guest,

We are surprised to learn that you give our establishment a "Thumbs down" and would like to respond to the points you are making in your review. All pictures on the Safarinow website are pictures from the Lodge and we would appreciate it if you could indicate exactly what you mean by saying that the Lodge looks different from these pictures.

As for the gravel road, please do read the description on Safarinow, where it says "We are 5 km from the N2 Amalinda exit, 2 km of which is well-maintained gravel road with concrete slabs for most of the way". We also state clearly that the Lodge is located on a country estate, which implies that the road leading there goes through nature and not through a concrete jungle. Warm water works with a gas geyser and this geyser never goes off unless guests fiddle with it or try to blow out the pilot flame.

You say that you are not a "wild person", so we do understand that a stay in the middle of beautiful nature is not your thing and your stay was not what you would have liked it to be, but we feel that that is merely a personal choice and no reason to give us a thumbs down.
We trust that you will choose more wisely and more according to your preferences in future.

Warm regards
Elsa
