On the corner of Second Street and First Avenue in Waterval Boven, the Rack Rail Inn, provides the ideal overnight stopover for backpackers, business representatives, tourists, or a weekend breakaway at an affordable rate.

The "rack rail" or "tandrat" was used to pull the trains up the steep gradient between Waterval Onder and Waterval Boven. The Rack Rail Inn is located in the original hostel of the railway employees in Waterval Boven. The main building was built in 1929 and the wings were added in 1949.

Accommodation at the Rack Rail Inn is offered in rooms sharing communal bathrooms. There are twin rooms, double rooms and a family room. Towels and linen are supplied.

A cozy dining room provides a hearty breakfast and a traditional South African dinner. There is also a TV room with M-Net and DStv.
