We are the first totally Vegan/Vegetarian Backpacker in SA ( which means no meat on the property) so be prepared to be a veghead when staying with us.

You can go self-cater or eat in with us as we do serve delicious vegan meals, you can also pop down to the beach or river for good local cuisine. We are only  five minutes off the N2, a few minutes before you get to Knysna Town and we are a perfect stop over if travelling up to Addo National Park or the Wild Coast AND a magical base to chill and stay a while whilst exploring the Garden Route, Tsitsikamma & Natures Valley.

We have a Bali style honesty bar with organic wines and locally brewed beers and serve the most delicious decadent vegan meals. We have had 5 star reviews and our breakfasts are legendary.

While the wildlife will mostly do the entertaining, you might be lucky enough to arrive whilst some of SA's top musicians record in our award winning music studio with producer Howard Butcher and during the summer season months you can enjoy our sunset soirées with some awesomely creative, talented singer-song writers. If natures' more your thing, you can slow down and do yoga or meditate in an enchanting forest glade or on our jetty over the lily pond, then meander along our magical forest walks rounding off your day with cuddling and feeding our retired horses a carrot or two.

If adventures are what you are looking for, book a guided tour or go on our Ancient Elephant Forest & Mountain Hike with our legendary nature guide. Alternatively we can book you a multitude of adventure activities like sandboarding, kayaking, mountain biking, bungee jumping, paragliding, surfing or any other adventure you wish to experience, all are a mere 10 minutes to an hour away. Book our shuttle to take you from here to anywhere!

Be it a night or a week, if you are a bunny hugger or a nature lover you will love being at Peace of Eden.

Thank you for everything by

We really enjoyed our stay at Peace of Eden. I have raved to my colleagues here at work, friends and family about how wonderful our stay there was! Very peaceful, serene, exactly what I was hoping for! (and needed) It is definitely value for money and I if I decide to come back again, it will definitely be to Peace of Eden again.

WONDERFUL! by

WE had a fantastic night there! Everyone was so helpful and friendly! Fab local advice! And quaint cottages with everything you need!

DISAPPOINTED by

After the lovely pictures that we were sent of the cottage, I was very disappointed. Unfortunately the bed wasn't very comfortable and sagged in the middle which we fixed by putting blankets under the mattress. The water was brown, which I feel they could have mentioned on the net. It did not have a pleasant odour to it. The shower bubbled and made strange sounds every time the neighbours showered. The hot plate did not work, but that was replaced for us, but a little too late. Unfortunately, the unit needs some tender loving care before they let it out again. It has a lot of potential as it is a lovely setting.

Safari Tents spacious, nice and clean but felt like we were camping in someones garden by

Peace of Eden retreat was very clean and well kept. We went just before the busy season so we were 1 of two couples at the retreat. The accommodation, ablution facilities and kitchen setups were all very nice, but the one thing that did bother us a little bit was that we felt like we were camping in someone's backyard (albeit a big backyard). I suppose it works for some people and that's cool. But I'm afraid we won't be going back there.
