Sava Dunes

Sava Dunes is wonderfully situated in a remote part of the Mozambican coastline. Nestled between the bustling area of Barra and picturesque Tofo lies Sava Dunes, surrounded by golden dunes and iconic ocean views. Sava Dunes tops the standard in regards to location. Built atop sand dunes, the lodge is luxury and eco friendly, running completely of solar power, the lodge strives to provide a tranquil beach retreat yet also minimising the carbon footprint.

There are 5 Ocean Facing Cottages and 1 Garden View Family Chalet, each providing luxury amidst a wild,
raw and rugged coastline. The all important beach bar, serving delicious cocktails and dining areas are housed in the main areas, which provides the setting for an exquisite culinary feast comprising of in-season local produce as well as a combination of traditional seafood barbecued or how we affectionately refer to as "Braai'ed" to perfection resulting in a wonderfully protracted affair in and calm and peaceful, yet indulgently luxurious layout. All meals can be crafted to suit any dietary requirements.

The lodge is connected via winding wooden walkways which delicately cut through the sparse coastal vegetation carpeting the goldenly hued dunes. The beach, a mere few meters from your room offers warm waters with peeling waves perfect for those bodyboarding enthusiast . The whale-sharks and humpback whales frequent the area during the season; and one can often spot the bottlenose dolphins around. There is a shoal of seahorses to be found in the neighboring estuary, an ideal for spot for a bit of snorkeling. One can easily expect to see sea cucumbers, puffer fish, lion fish and a verity of other species of fish while in the water.

Once you have completed some "fun-in-the-sun" and water-based activities. We invite you to meander up to the lodge for some wonderful relaxation around the pool area. Take a dip in the refreshing water and quench your thirst at the bar which is full accessible from right inside the pool via the swim-up bar and order a tropical cocktail all while still in the water!

In the mood for some activities away from the lodge? Day excursions of all sorts, (please refer to our activities list) can be arranged at the lodge or during the reservation process. The surrounding area is world-renown for ocean safaris and the cultural tours are a wonderful experience. Basic snorkelling equipment, bodyboards and longboards are available at the lodge. Die-hard scuba divers need to pre-arrange their diving activities during season.
