The Overlook offers three thatched chalets and a family suite with two bedrooms. All have a spectacular view of the Kalahari Desert and the vineyards of the Orange River Valley. Conveniently located in the center of Keimoes on the hilltop, privacy is a priority at The Overlook.

Our facilities include an endless horizon pool with a swim-up bar and deck, partially enclosed by a thatched lapa, as well as a braai/barbecue area with a lapa. We do not serve drinks; you are welcome to bring your own.

Your hosts are Eric, a native New Yorker, and his wife Anna, a South African. Eric was raised in an Indonesian kitchen and is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He is an award winning international chef. Dining at The Overlook will be an unforgettable experience.

All units also have fully equipped kitchenettes should you prefer to cater for yourself. No meals are included in the room rate as listed. Breakfast is always available at an additional R75 per person; lunches and dinners by reservation only. Arrangements for lunch or dinner should be made at least 24 hours in advance.

We are looking forward to being your hosts in the last truly untamed territory in sunny South Africa.

Hosts are charming. Food and catering are first rate. Highly recommended.

Remarkable place to stay by

The Overlook is a truly remarkable place to stay, with a very high quality of service and facilities. A great credit to Anna and Eric. The only way to believe how good the Overlook is. Is to stay and marvel at the wonderful view. The pool is a really good, to unwind in after a hot days travelling. I will be back.

A stop-over NEVER to be overlooked! by

Keimoes is beautiful, but hot - very hot! And the Overlook was the perfect oasis on our journey between JHB and the West Coast! Anna and Eric were the perfect hosts, providing a very comfortable stay in the most picturesque setting! And to top it off, they accommodated the most important member of our family - our puppy Blake!

We booked a three sleeper but had to pay extra for the mattress they place in the room and the bedding for my son to make it a three sleeper.


Establishment Response:

The enquiry, quote and reservation was for two people. You phoned us a day or so prior to their arrival. That was the first time they mentioned that they were two adults and two children. We always charge extra for extra people, even for children.

We do have a family unit for families but that was not available at the time. We don't usually accommodate four in the chalets, even if two are children. We sometimes accommodate three in a chalet by adding a small bed but they preferred a mattress for the safety of the small children.

Loved the view, the whole chalet. TV remote did not work but did not bother me as I went on the sleep early.
