Nestled in a valley outside Grahamstown, facing the rock face of the Howison's Poort Mountain stands the Stone Crescent Hotel which gets its name from a combination of the prehistoric stone tools that peppered the area and the rock crescents that face it.

The hotel boasts 29 rooms; we have six Thatched Bungalows, four Deluxe Rooms, four Self-catering Flats, 11 Double Standard Rooms and four Single Standard Rooms. There is a conference centre, restaurant and recreational facilities situated on 105 hectares with game, flora and fauna. The Stone Crescent hotel is a place of relaxation for the local community and offers the visitors a tranquil haven to rest or work from.

Situated right on the doorstep of the N2 Highway to Port Elizabeth and just 8 km outside the historical town of Grahamstown, the hotel offers an ideal stopover for travellers, a good hideaway for the business person visiting Grahamstown, and the perfect place for tourists visiting the various game reserves synonymous with the Eastern Cape such as the Pumba Game Reserve and the Addo Elephant Park.

Nightmare by

Dear Safari.com, if I were you I'd remove Stone Crescent of my web. This is definitely not a 3 Star "hotel". First off, the services that they claimed to provide were non-existent. Like the free wi-fi, gym, clean bathroom, friendly staff etc. This place is a scam, we had to wash with ice cold water for four days, which resulted in half of the group catch the flu bug. Most of the rooms didn't have electricity. And the rooms that did have electricity had loose electrical wires hanging in plain sight which was a death trap. Most of their showers seemed like they were assembled my a group of toddlers who were playing with mud and broken tiles. Three of the 10 rooms I booked didn't have keys to lock the doors, which resulted in some of my friends losing their personal belongs including money. This place is not a 1 Star hotel, not even a 3 Star hotel.

Establishment's response

Dear Tshepiso Firstly, we fail to understand where you saw a three star rating associated with the Hotel. We have no rating thus far. As for our bathrooms, we have newly setup environmentally friendly solar geysers AND electrical geysers on the premises so we fail to understand why you were washing with cold water even when hot water was available. No report of washing in cold water was made to the front desk. All our rooms have electricity and there are no 'loose electrical wires hanging around' so we honestly dont know which section of the Hotel you are refferring to and which rooms you booked to stay in? You might want to pay us a visit and show us these imaginery rooms that you speak of. We also don't understand which doors you are referring to as all of our hotel rooms have doors which can be locked. As for personal belongings being lost, no reports of theft were made on the premises. We have CCTV surveillance cameras set up in all our corridors within the Hotel so should you have made a report we could have looked into the matter but seeing that you didn't bother doing that, we conclude that you are lieing about it all and you have no proof to base all these accussations upon. Should you have any proof against any of our staff members feel free to present it to us. Please note: there is no point in writing up a false review in which you choose to lodge all your complaints without having approached the Hotel Staff or Owner regarding any issues which you may have faced during your stay. We request all other guests to please bring forward any problems that they experience during their stay at the Hotel and we will ensure that they are sorted out as soon as possible and to the best of our ability. Also, please don't base your final decision on reading such baseless and misleading reviews. We are confident that you will enjoy your stay in our spacious and newly renovated rooms. We look forward to hosting you, Stone Crescent Hotel

Disgusting by

The most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at - The room stank, the bed stank. The toilet was broken, the TV was broken, the shower was broken, the bath was brown - I have photos of it all. The floor was dirty. Found a slug in the bed. Spoke to the receptionist and he couldnt help, he told us the manager wasnt available to help either.
