Mieliefontein is situated in Hanover, in the Karoo Gariep Hippo Conservancy. We have the only hippos that dwell in the Karoo area. The farm is known for its park-like gardens and beautiful farmhouse.

Elma is one of the best chefs in the Karoo and you may find yourself discussing her superb food before you discuss the accommodation. We offer six accommodation options and the rooms are uniquely furnished with antique pieces which were collected over a lifetime. Accommodation is located in peaceful surroundings and you will find the pool to be rewarding after a long drive. We do three-course dinners and breakfast on request.

Mieliefontein is a working sheep and cattle farm situated halfway between Johannesburg and Cape Town. We are 8 km from the N1 and 1.5 km.

It was an ice cold night, but the cottage was nice and hot. We arrived very late but they were kind enough to wait for us. Thanks.

Great place for a little break by

Very comfortable and Ian was a great host. I did not have a chance to taste what I believe is fantastic food.
