Mieliefontein is situated in Hanover, in the Karoo Gariep Hippo Conservancy. We have the only hippos that dwell in the Karoo area. The farm is known for its park-like gardens and beautiful farmhouse.

Elma is one of the best chefs in the Karoo and you may find yourself discussing her superb food before you discuss the accommodation. We offer six accommodation options and the rooms are uniquely furnished with antique pieces which were collected over a lifetime. Accommodation is located in peaceful surroundings and you will find the pool to be rewarding after a long drive. We do three-course dinners and breakfast on request.

Mieliefontein is a working sheep and cattle farm situated halfway between Johannesburg and Cape Town. We are 8 km from the N1 and 1.5 km from the R389.

It was an ice cold night, but the cottage was nice and hot. We arrived very late but they were kind enough to wait for us. Thanks.

Our stay at the farm house was very enjoyable, our host received us warmly and took us to our room which we all loved. my daughter couldn't stop running around the lush gardens, I cannot put to words the wonder and beauty of the garden. Elma cooked us the most scrumptious meal and we sat at table with our host. thank you Mieliefontein for making our stay so enjoyable. Elma is a gem
