These luxury, sustainable cabins are situated on a fynbos eco-reserve in the heart of the Winelands. Solar heating, water saving devices, and a wormery are being gradually introduced into the reserve.

The visitor can retreat into the elements of nature while enjoying the breathtaking silence and majestic views from their own balconies. A number of organic treatments are offered in the luxury safari-style tent or in dedicated spaces within the garden, and the cabins are a wonderful base from which to launch retreats and conferences.

We had a comfortable stay, but this is very much a work in progress, it is not quite done, there are some teething problems, such as basin taps that are loose, shower that is not level and does not drain, toilets that need final installation to get the water to fill the cistern, then switch off. The washing up facilities are very basic, insufficient cloths etc which is evident in crockery and cutlery that is not pristine, but one can understand why not. The furnishing is comfortable but really not luxurious, old couches covered with throws, odd lighting in lounge, dining table to large for the space that it is in. Garden landscaping is also a bit of a work in progress - this is simple and reasonably comfortable accommodation but one gets the feeling something is missing, attention to detail.

We had a lovely weekend at Fijnbosch, except for not having DSTV/any TV as promise. A bit disappointed.

Establishment's response

Unfortunately we had a problem with the DSTV link and could not get a technician out at short notice. We will endevour to try and rectify the problem in the future.
