Wegbreek in ons pragtige Suid-Afrika by

My sister is immigrating so we decided to book a last family holiday before she leaves. Princes Grant was an option and we booked 268 Sandhills owner Jan Rootman at R3000 per night.

We arrived late afternoon on the 27th, it looked old, we noticed that on the deck crab shells on the floor, wet mats on the patio furniture. Inside it hadn't looked as it though the house had been cleaned. The downstairs and upstairs shower just had Hand andy on the floor and just left as is.

The kitchen was dirty, the fridge / freezer was not working, the extractor cover was on top of the cupboard, and the extractor not cleaned in a while, chipped dishes, dirty pots and pans. They actually looked black.

I was highly upset on the condition of the house, contacted Jan Rootman and during the conversation Jan offered a full refund.

Leonie the cleaning service lady arrived that evening, advising that her crew had insufficient cleaning  time as it was a Sunday( to me that is no excuse if you have a business make sure it runs
properly) She also mentioned that we were not the first quests wanting to leave the first night, and that the house is on sale for a while.

Early hours of the morning Jan sent a message advising that he would refund us 50% less the commission of the agent that we booked through Safari Now. or stay as per the agreement.

The following morning the downstairs bedroom sheet had a bloodstain on it, and it seemed upstairs sheets were not changed either.

We spent the day out on Monday, we killed 8 to nine cockroaches that evening in the main bathroom and under the bed, that evening I slept at my brother in laws house.

Underneath the staircase has not been cleaned for months if not years. All other nights we killed 4 to 5 cockroaches, the couches were uncomfortable to sit, they just looked dirty. After complaining to Jan the cleaning lady come there and advised that the second set of sheets at the Laundromat, Leonie cleaning services was there from Tuesday Morning.

Among ourselves we had numerous fights and we made a collective decision to stay because of the kids, and for the other family member that were at the estate.

On new years day the electricity was out due to a  transformer blew,  We managed to get ready and go out for dinner. We got back at the house late and there still was no power, my husband in the dark stepped on a cockroach and one on our bags, that evening I slept in the car, and we left the following morning one day short.

We are upset with the owner for renting out a house in that state for what we paid, even Leonie and her husband were shocked at what we paid for the week. Even though the cleaning lady was there everyday we didn't use the kitchen, underneath the staircase was still left as is. HOA of Princes Grant should be aware of 268 because in my view its an unfair reflection of their beautiful estate.

We are aware that its a risk of the house we will get, but for R3000 p/n I did expect more from the owner and the state of his house.

My holiday was ruined and I was looking forward to this holiday for months, but disappointed at the cleaning ness of the house, and not what is expecting for R3000 per night.

I highly don't recommend this house for any time of holiday, its disgusting.
