Sailing and boating activities on the lagoon are popular, as well as scenic walks and drives where you may see wild desert horses and dramatic landscapes.

Nearby, in the Forbidden Zone/Sperrgebiet of Namibia, lies the abandoned ghost town of Kolmanskop, which is almost covered in Namib Desert sand and a reminder of the past.
