Pooh Corner by

Kathy was a great host, and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Delightful Stay by

Wonderful experience. Gavin and Kathy are very hospitable and Kathy is charming, kind and welcoming to her guests. . The breakfasts are a real treat. 'Piglet's place' facilities are charming and tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The surrounding garden and natural forest area are delightful, creating such a peaceful and relaxing setting. We saw a number of birds including a beautiful Paradise Fly Catcher. They have a delightful array of pets. We grew very attached to their 'Bingo', who is a typically playful and mischievous puppy who is full of energy. We highly recommend this B&B.

Wonderful stay at Pooh Corner! by

I have stayed at Pooh Corner before and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Kathy is so welcoming and it really feels like a home, whilst having your own space and privacy. The accommodation is homely and the breakfast is wonderful. Charlie the dog is a big highlight! The location is perfect, just a short drive or walk down to the beach or into areas such as Kalk Bay or Silvermine. Opposite the house is a Farm Village which has places for coffee and a evening meal just over the road, which is lovely. Would recommend staying here to see a different, more relaxing experience of Cape Town!

Delicious breakfasts and the friendly dog named Charlie ?? by

We had a really beautiful relaxing stay!

Much promise but ultimately unsatisfying by

The location is lovely, being literally across the road from the Noordhoek Farm Village and close to the beach and other charming attractions.
The property is lovely, it has a large garden and the rooms are thoughtfully decorated and homely. The owners are also very friendly and welcoming.
We had a few issues however, that ultimately left us with a bitter taste. The owners had a large family gathering, of which we were not forewarned. Upon arrival we were INFORMED, not asked, that we had been moved to a different room because the elderly lady whose birthday was being celebrated could not make it up the stairs. We were also INFORMED, not asked, that our breakfast the next morning would be served in our rooms, as family were occupying the dining room. No offer was made for an alternative arrangement - we were not asked whether we would like a table set for us in the garden, for example. We expect, as paying guests, to be accommodated, not to be made to accommodate others.
The bed was also incredibly uncomfortable, and rather than getting a good night's sleep we could barely sleep at all. Furthermore, the duvets over the beds are too small for two people, which also caused further frustration while trying to sleep.
Ultimately, the service and comfort we received was not worth the money we paid. The place is quaint and holds so much potential, but ultimately we were left unsatisfied.

Establishments response:

Dear Wade

Thank you for talking the time to send the review and for your kind words about the beauty of Pooh Corner.

I am so sorry that you felt neglected and ?informed' during your stay, it was with the totally opposite intention, that I upgraded your suite, at no extra cost to the best and biggest suite at Pooh Corner. Owl's House, unlike our 2 other B&B suites has a separate lounge and fireplace, and costs R450 pn more. I never dreamed that you wouldn't be happy with the change. I could in fact have left you in Roo's Room and put my elderly parents in Piglet's Place, but I genuinely thought of spoiling you with the extra space and comfort. As for the breakfast served in your suite, yes perhaps a table in the garden would have been a lovely idea, I wish you had suggested it, sorry I didn't.
You mentioned that the king-size bed with king-size duvet was not comfortable. I am sorry that you didn't sleep well, it is so often the same for me when I sleep in a strange bed. For the sake of the review however, I must say that we have Cloud Nine matrasses on all our beds and are often complimented on how comfortable they are. Similarly I must mention that our ?large' family function was a braai with 14 family members to celebrate my mother in-laws 80th birthday. As this is both a family home and guesthouse and not a hotel, I don't think this was an unreasonable event.
I trust you will accept my humblest apologies for any disappointment caused.

With kind regards
Kathy Fish
