Guest Farm Ghaub was once considered one of Namibia's best-kept secrets. A gem among jewels, Ghaub has now established itself as one of the leading affordable family lodges in Northern Namibia. Located in the Otavi Mountain Range, 450 km north of Windhoek near Tsumeb, Ghaub is steeped in history as it was founded as a German Lutheran mission station in 1895.

During the 1960s it was transformed into a working farm and then in the mid 1990s Ghaub was converted into a lodge while retaining much of the original character and design. Today it provides a spacious ten-twin-room facility in a beautiful setting. The views from the veranda of each room are stunning and quite unique in this part of Namibia. Ghaub is a place where people come to relax and unwind.

Guests enjoy the home-style cooking on offer and the friendly atmosphere that exists from attentive welcoming staff. Activities include nature and farm drives, horse riding trails through the hills, mountain biking, guided mountain hikes and caving. The Ghaub cave is of particular interest to enthusiasts and is recognised as a national treasure. With more than 2.5 km of passageways and corridors it is also popular with day visitors.

There is a large working farm attached to the lodge where guests can visit and experience local farming methods and lifestyle. Birdwatching is another popular activity and the range and species of birds in the immediate area of the lodge is regularly commented on by avid birdwatchers.

The Etosha National Park is a comfortable 90-minute drive from Ghaub which makes it possible for day trips from the lodge. Guests often make an early start with a packed lunch and still make it back in time for a late evening swim before dinner. The Hoba meteorite is also close by and can be included on a scenic mountain drive towards Kombat. All in all, Guest Farm Ghaub is an ideal stop off on the way to Rundu and Caprivi in the North East or on the way back to Windhoek from Etosha.

The swimming pool is big and shaded by palm and acacia trees. From here the view of the mountain is just breathtaking and to top it all off there's a Jacuzzi.

The very best stay in Namibia by

Back hone in Stavanger, Norway after a hectic 10 days selfdrive roundtrip from Windhoek to Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Capre Cross, Spitzkoppe, Okonjima, Etosha and the Otjiko Lake it was fantastic to come down to a quite and relaxing Guest Farm Ghaub. We were a family group of 5 aged between 19 and 77 years of age. We all enjoyed the stay at Guest Farm Ghaub which delivered the goods to our fullest satisfaction. We also visited the Ghaub Cave which was a new experience for the group. Very interesting, but scary at the same for some of us. We would not hesitate to recommend Guest Farm Ghaub for any one who who would like to see a fantastic running farm in Namibia. Our host, guide, waiter, driver etc., all in one person could not have been better. Oh yes, we liked it there and hope to come back an other time to stay longer.
