Bordering the Mt Edgecombe Golf Estate, the Lodge is ideally positioned for golfers, business stay-over as well as holiday getaways. Our unique location makes for a safe, secure, quiet and restful stay.

The lodge is situated three kilometres from Umhlanga Rocks, just South Africa's famous beach resort on the Indian Ocean, 15 kilometres North of Durban, and 35 kilometers from Durban International Airport. The lodge consist of 12 elegantly appointed luxury suites, all with en-suite facilities, such as air-conditioning, DStv, Internet and Wi-Fi. There is a swimming pool and braai area with secure parking.

Everyone is really friendly and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd want to be when on holiday in Durban, very relaxed and pleasant.

We were extremely pleased with the way we were hosted from the time of our arrival till leaving. A wonderful friendly atmosphere exists in all the staff, making our stay relaxed and comfortable. The accommodation is excellent and the breakfasts well prepared and served as one would expect in 1st class restaurants. All in all accommodation that I would personally recommend to all my friends and associates.

I don't know what I expected, but we got more than we could have hoped for. Our stay was wonderful. Peter and the staff were friendly, attentive, caring and helpful at all times. The facilities are great, and the surroundings are beautiful!

I wish I could go and hang out at Gumtree Lodge every week-end!!

Disappointed by

We arrived well after check in and upon opening our room, everything was a mess. The bed wasn't made up, used towels on the floor and empty food packets- this was we were welcomed to after confirmation that our room was 'ready'. First impressions count, worse when allocating rooms to people who arrived 2 hours after check-in. This needs to be attended to. The pool was dirty and there was absolutely no network reception in our room unless you stepped outside. I'm not even talking about the wifi limited only to the dining area. Other guests on motorbikes could have been more considerate and accomodating to the fact that there were other people using the same place of leisure regarding the noise levels they made with their motor vehicles, yet management didn't intervene.

The room was nice and spacious, but please the rooms need more air circulation, they have a very stuffy smell or damp smell.
