Thornwood Lodge is a rustic lodge, an ideal group venue, sleeping up to 16 guests, in the Waterberg district of Bela Bela, 200 km from Johannesburg along the R516.

We are specifically a group venue and hire out the whole lodge to one group at a time. This is to ensure our guests have privacy and security. There are three chalets and two loft rooms, a central lapa area with a well-equipped kitchen, a viewing deck, a rim-flow swimming pool, a boma area for braais and bonfires, and a games room with pool and table tennis. The self-catering lodge is serviced daily.

Guests can enjoy walks and activities in the area, including an entry card to all activities at Zebula Country Club and Spa. Other activities include Zebula and Elements golf courses, Mabalingwe Nature Reserve, encounters with elephants, De Wildt Cheetahs, and the Warmbaths Hot mineral baths.

Enough space for big groops

Enjoyable by

Nice set-up, main house as well as chalets were very comfortable and sufficient. David and Victoria are realy friendly and helpful.

The main house, especially kitchen and bathrooms were not that clean.
Very dusty under beds and in corners of the chalets.

I do apologise for the dusty lapa, but seeing that it has no front door , we battle with the wind .
The lodge lapa is on a mountain and is prone to the wind and we have been especially windy this month.
The staff do dust daily , but this is a dry time of year.

Bird watching by

Mattresses very poor condition- base broken , had to level base with stone. Linen bad condition. Some of beds had linen that was used by previous visitor. Gas stove - one plate did not work.Cutlery and crockery not clean. Cushion for outside furniture in very bad condition.

Peace and Beauty in the Bushveld by

Rustic but comfortable Lodge. Staff very helpful and kept everything clean. Lovely pool area to relax and tan after taking a walk . 3 comfortable cottages and a great community area around the bar Basic but equipped kitchen. Great outdoor Boma so we braaied and relaxed around the fire. Seperate games room to keep noisy kids entertained without disturbing the loft room guests Basic bathroom in the main lodge so expect simple but clean. Typical game lodge in the bush

Loved the view. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Lodge was also well quipped.
