Wonderful by Lynne Mccallum, South Africa 29 April 2014 I am almost reluctant to post my review as I dont want anyone else to know about this very special place. But sharing is caring as they say. We had a fabulous stay at Carpe Diem - our hosts Hendrina and Gert were the cherry on top of the beautiful views and comfortable accommodation. We are counting the sleeps to our next visit. We enjoyed our stay and had the best experience in terms of hospitality and sightseeing. I would definitely recommend Carpe Diem to anyone who wishes to visit Umdloti beach. Mould and monkeysa disappointing stay by Ashleigh Mcgugan 10 July 2018 Umdloti is a lovely place with a beautiful natural tidal pool and warm seas and I liked the fact that our place was a 2 min.walk from the sea. However the flat's back bedroom was dark and cold and had a serious mould problem. Everyday we had to take my daughter's mattress and bedding out into the sun to air. And because of the marauding Vervet monkeys in the area which kept coming into the flat to steal food, it was very hard to air the place. We had to continuously be vigilant about packing away every scrap of food (even our vitamins) and putting a stool on the bin so the monkeys didn't create chaos. It made relaxing rather illusive. Also the sewerage air vent of the main house comes out on the lawn in front of the flat right where the table and bench for relaxing are, which makes trying to relax in the one patch of lovely winter sun the flat offers rather smelly. The owner is friendly and if the mould is dealt with the place would be very charming as it is in a lovely setting and is private and quiet. And I'm sure in summer the shade would be welcome.
