AfriCamps at Karoo 1, Hex Valley, boasts 13 boutique glamping tents overlooking the picturesque farm and its unique surrounding rock faces within two hours of Cape Town. The tents dot the landscape and lead the way to a stunning natural kloof pool (closed until further notice due to renovations) ? an oasis against the arid Karoo backdrop. Explore walking trails and MTB routes to spot beautiful fauna and flora in a truly unique setting.

The AfriCamps boutique glamping experience is perfect for families, couples, and close friends to get closer to nature while enjoying all of life's little luxuries. Our custom-made 55m2 tents are fully furnished and equipped for five guests with a private kitchen, lounge, en-suite bathroom (with private shower and toilet), two comfy bedrooms with extra-length queen-size beds, a fireplace, air-conditioning, and a wooden deck. The camp is pet-friendly, by prior arrangement.

Each AfriCamps tent consists of an outdoor wood-fired hot tub or splash pool, a spacious open plan lounge area with a comfortable couch, a dining area with a solid wooden table and seating for five guests, a fully-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms that comfortably sleeps five guests, and a bathroom complete with hot shower, flushing toilet, and washbasin.

Both bedrooms are furnished with an extra-length queen-size bed and have their own private entrance which allows maximum privacy. One of the bedrooms also contains a single bunk bed. Our tents are equipped with air-conditioning and an indoor fireplace. Enjoy a braai on our spacious wooden decks and take in the views from the comfortable deck loungers. Pull up the front covers and transform the tent into a large outdoor living area. Unwind and appreciate a festive family breakfast while taking in the serene natural beauty of the South African landscape.

Hiking trails, mountain biking trails, swimming in the kloof pool (closed until further notice due to renovations) and even rock climbing all await on the property. Coupled with the world-class facilities available at the established hotel, there is something for everyone. The property offers a restaurant, bar, boma, communal swimming pool, kids play area and gym. The camp is dog-friendly, so no member of the family has to miss out on the fun! The on-site chapel and wedding venue make this camp the perfect wedding destination.

AfriCamps at Karoo 1 is situated just north of the Hex River Pass between De Doorns and Touws River on the popular Karoo 1 Farm Estate. Mountains, rivers and valleys meet in the Hex River Valley, where the Great Karoo begins. The surrounding mountain ranges, of which the Matroosberg is the highest peak, create majestic views and beautiful rugged landscapes, softened by the first sight of Karoo shrublands. The narrow valley stretches along the N1 from Worcester to Touws River, with De Doorns, South Africa's leading table grape-growing region, at the centre. One of the best ways to experience the picturesque Karoo landscape is by e-bike. Our brand-new e-Rides e-bike rental services are available at AfriCamps Karoo 1. This standalone activity is open to day visitors too.
