The Nightjar is a lovely self-catering flatlet ideally situated on a property right on the banks of the Sundays River. There is an abundance of birdlife for bird-watchers or alternatively, guests can enjoy long walks along the riverfront that offers beautiful morning sunrises and stunning views. It is also only a five-minute drive from the south entrance of the renowned Addo Elephant National Park.

The Nightjar can comfortably accommodate up to four guests and comprises two bedrooms, a dining area and kitchenette and an under-cover entertainment area. The first bedroom contains twin three-quarter beds, a kitchenette and dining area, and a separate toilet and basin. It looks out onto the living area. The second bedroom contains a double bed looking onto the hedge. There is also a full bathroom with a free-standing bath, shower and toilet, and full DStv is available in both bedrooms.

The furnished under-cover entertainment area includes a Jetmaster braai. Secure parking for two cars is also provided. The property is situated right on the river, with a private entrance to the river and private jetty. Beautiful views of are visible from the gate entrance to the river.

In addition, there is a restaurant and cafe within walking distance. Guest can enjoy exceptional fishing off the jetty as well as hire canoes, rowing- and motoristed boats. Trips on the river ferry can be arranged.

Lovely stay, accommodation very comfortable and warm welcoming hosts.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Nightjar. The hosts are very welcoming and, once settled in, unobtrusive. The flat is well appointed- ideal for a couple. The bathroom was an unexpected surprise! The Sundays River is a tranquil place during the week were you you feel all the daily stress leave your body. Definitely recommended!

Lovely decor and bright rooms with modern facilities and lovely bathroom. So close to Southern Gate of the Addo and overlooking the wild and beautiful sand dunes. Owner really kind and welcoming. Patio area with braai was great. Thank you for an unforgettable stay!

Spacious accommodation, but the 2nd bedroom is in fact part of the living room and kitchen, so not private. The apartment is also on the same property as the owner's house, so not completely private.

Establishment Response:

I have only recently opened up my private area, being the walk through for the guests to utalise the Stoop section, where they can enjoy a panaramic view of the Sundays River. Which was never used by guests before, as they have/ had their own entrance to the river.

This is perhaps where the not so private comment comes from, as it is a walk through from the guests living area, straight through my private area, onto the stoop. As before this section is/was always cordoned off with a set of stack doors and blinds, which then allows the guests complete privacy.

What I always suggest to the guests is that they may chose, if they want complete privacy, then I close the stack doors with blinds, so giving them their private entrance to the river. In other words it is their choice, or they may walk straight through my section onto the stoop. The door is always unlocked for them to come in if they want to. I do always ask if guests want the blinds drawn to be private or not. Riana i did give you the choice. There is a table and 4 chairs on the stoop where guests can enjoy their meals/drinks.

The kitchenette is attached to the 2nd bedroom, which then leads out 2 sets of glass doors, into the living area, which is totally seperate from the kitchenette and 2nd bedroom. It is not attached to the 2nd bedroom. This living area consists of an undercover jetmaster bri, with an undercover spacious furnished living area, which also includes a diningroom table with 4 chairs.

I do apologise if you felt there was no privacy.
