Pikkewyn

Pikkewyn is a lovely two-bedroom self-catering cottage situated 140 kilometres north from Cape Town on the West Coast in Laaiplek, Velddrif.

Pikkewyn is situated perfectly for the adventure seeker and is only 800 meters away from the slipway (referred to as Rooibaai by locals) giving boat owners direct access to water sports or angling on the Berg River and for the ones with larger boats, access to the sea where snoek, kabeljou, yellowtail or lobster can be found. The best of both worlds!

However, a boat is not a necessity. Fishing or angling can be done in abundance from the jetty or Berg Riverbank. Come see the beautiful spring flowers all along the West Coast and go for scenic walks or boat trips along the river. The annual Berg River Canoe Marathon ends just around the corner from Pikkewyn. On a daily basis, locals launch their fishing boats and often return from sea with hulls filled to the brim with the day's catch. Buy your fish fresh from the fisherman.....best way to do it!

Laaiplek started off as a small fishing community. It is also be told that farmers in earlier years that stayed along the Berg River, transported their wheat and goods along the river to the sea (Laaiplek) to be shipped to Melkbos/Cape Town.....in those earlier years Laaiplek was also referred to as "Brood op die Water". (Bread on the Water).

Pikkewyn offers luxury West Coast accommodation for up to six guests: Bedroom One ? Double bed, Bedroom two ? Double Bed, Living Area ? Sofa that opens up into a double bed. All linen and towels will be provided.
The comfortable open plan kitchen and living area is modern and fully equipped with a stove and electric oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment as well as an indoor built-in braai.

The open-plan living area is comfortably furnished and there is a six-seater dining room table. There is also a TV (Netflix) and free Wi-Fi.

Pikkewyn is well situated with easy access to shops and restaurants. There is safe off-road parking for two vehicles.
