There are nine well-appointed guest rooms, of which all have twin- or double beds and en-suite bathrooms. Each room has a distinctive African theme made possible by the use of natural stone, rough-hewn wood and thatch. A kitchenette is available for all your basic self-catering needs.

Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast in the spacious dining area, and will have a choice of Continental, English or vegetarian dishes to choose from. Guests can also visit the town and explore the variety of restaurants and coffee shops on offer.

The main building has a beautiful design and is ideal for weddings, functions and conferences. Guests can visit the scenic Wagendrift Nature Reserve or the Wagendrift Dam to enjoy some fishing and water sports. Unwind in the lodge's pub while having a refreshing drink to end the day off.

Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our stay at Linglela Lodge for the following reasons: Upon our arrival, the owner Linda, after greeting us, immediately proceeded to ask us to pay the balance of our accomodation up front, before we even settled into our room. This I found most unwelcoming, since I've stayed in accomodation before and its always been customary to settle your accomodation balance on the day of departure. I was made to feel like I was a crook who wasn't going to pay what was still due. Friends of ours also staying there were given the same treatment. Since we didn't have cash and there were no card facilities, we had to go into town for cash. We weren't even given directions to town, just told that it was 5km's away. We came back from town and went to our room to put our bags in before going to pay. After a few minutes, there was a knock on the door. It was Linda coming to ask for the money for the balance! Never before have we received such ungracious treatment! She definitely needs to take a course on how to welcome and treat guests because she either has no clue or she does not think its important to be nice to guests. In fact, I don't recall ever having received a smile from her, she definetly was not warm and welcoming. The accomodation itself was extremely basic and very cramped. There were no handtowels, no soap holders in the shower, but most importantly, the tiles in the shower were shiny tiles which were very slippery once wet, therefore extremely dangerous.Check out time was 10am on Sunday, but by 9h30 the maids were already there to clean up the rooms, while we were still there. It felt as though we were being pushed to leave whether we were ready to or not. Is it not customary to clean once guests have left completely? This has been my experience everywhere else that I've stayed.

Pleasure to stay here by

My partner and I stayed at the lodge on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th nights. As is usual now in this wicked world where people do not pay for their bills we paid up front, we did not have to pay a damage deposit which was unusual. We had a beautiful room with DSTV, en-suite shower, toilet and a Kitchenette with a microwave, bar fridge and kettle. The bed had electric blankets and the bedding was very warm, crisp and clean. The couple running the units, Linda and Glen, were extremely friendly and welcoming. We were in Escourt for the dirt road racing and even though we were tired out we still felt welcome and at home. The place is beautiful with its statues of animals and thatched dining and bar / entertainment area. We are hoping to come back next year for the next race in this area as it was such a pleasure to stay here.

What a pleasant surprise, good food, good company and willingness from Linda and family to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They went out of their way to accommodate our every wish. Thank you, we will be back.
