Hippo Waterfront Lodge offers the most peaceful and quiet setting on the banks of the Crocodile River, only 10 km outside of Nelspruit.

Affordable, clean, comfortable and fully equipped timber log chalets and rooms ensure a real rustic and African bush experience. Each chalet has a magnificent view of the river from its private veranda. Running water, rolling green lawns and lots of indigenous trees bring abundant bird life to this setting, and guests can enjoy visits from the river's resident hippos.

This is an ideal base from which to explore the wonders of the Mpumalanga Lowveld, such as Blyde River Canyon, God's Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes, waterfalls, the Sudwala Caves and the Kruger National Park.

A little piece of heaven by

Hippo Waterfront Lodge is a little piece of heaven. The dawn chorus of birds, insects, and occasionally the resident Hippo, is fantastic. What a way to wake up! Johan and Anna are exceptional hosts and nothing was too much trouble. In fact they go out of their way to help you. This goes for all of the lodge staff too. The accommodation was simple. clean and very comfortable. We loved walking around the grounds and the view of the river and bird activity from your own little verandah is amazing. Johan's braai's are delicious as is all the food served. Loved the wine too. I would recommend Hippo Waterfront Lodge to everyone I know and my daughter and I would return tomorrow if we could.
